For our first week, Dr Kenndy was unfortunately sick, therefore we had no in person class this week. I watched the lecture he had posted for us, introducing us to performance capture and discussing the difference between performance capture & motion capture.
Written notes:
Action Breakdown
Following along with the recorded lab instructions Dr Kennedy had posted for us, our task for this week is to analyze every aspect of performance (body & face) of the given interval. My given interval is Fred 266-502. I then downloaded Fred assets and the recorded full body performance video.
I decided to mainly work on the Fred Canon coverage as this angle showed more full body movement, as well as using the samsung coverage to compare few frames to have a better determination of movements (such as tilting of the head to an angle).
I then trimmed the performance into the frames I am responsible for (266-502) with additional few frames on both ends to understand the context.
I first started off with describing the facial changes, frame by frame. I mainly observed the brows, eyes (including eyelids and iris, sclera movements), cheeks, mouth/lips, teeth, and jaw movements. However, I was not confident on how small detail I should focus into. This may be due to my lack of understanding of how this breakdown process affect the project further on.
I then moved onto describing the movement in the body, focusing on the positioning of the arms, each foot contacting the floor, head tilt etc. I realised that Fred does not have too much big movements during my given interval frame range.
